Visitors Comments

The Site also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on the Site. We only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses Personally, Identifying Information, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the Site where the comment was left.

When Visitors leave comments on the Site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the Visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from the Visitor’s email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service will have its own privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

When uploading images to the Site, Visitors should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the Site can download and extract any location data from images on the Site.
